We are adapting our programming in light of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Our number one priority is the health and safety of our girls and staff. As we continue to monitor the recommendations from provincial and federal health agencies, we will update this page with any changes to our programs and camps.

Each year, Girls Inc. of Durham hosts a traditional in-person summer camp but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be hosting our first virtual summer learning experience this year.  We are hopeful that later in the summer we will be able to offer small groups of in person camp.  To be added to our pending list please contact our Director of Programming, Tracey McCannell tmccannell@durham.girls-inc.org

Summer Day Camp for girls age 6 to 12 and Counsellor-in-Training (CIT) for teen girls ages 13 to 16.  

Girls Inc. Summer Camp offers a unique “minds-on/hands-on” experience designed just for girls!   Fun-filled and engaging activities, games, sports, field trips, crafts, experiments, role playing, and discussions address topics including: bullying, body image & self-esteem, sports, physical activity & nutrition, stress management, and leadership & community action.  Girls Inc. provides girls with a safe nurturing environment with a high ratio of professionally trained program staff to girls daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Every day is something new from Girls Inc. signature programs!

Project BOLD: Girls learn fun self defense moves, build confidence and self-esteem, and address issues such as bullying.

Operation SMART: Girls have fun making gooey experiments, build rockets, play with bugs, and figure out how things work.

Sporting Chance: Girls play new and innovative games, develop sports-related skills, participate in daily physical activity, and learn about healthy food choices.

Media & Me: Girls tackle the influence of negative media messages and images, helping them think critically about what they see and hear, developing positive body image and self-esteem.

I struggled internally for a long time, but through Girls Inc. I learned that my body is a resource, not an object. I began to love and embrace my body.
