The Purpose

A celebration of the accomplishments of local girls and young women who are creating positive change and breaking the cycle of limitations for their families, communities, institutions, and all of us.  Over 100 influential executives, community and business leaders, local celebrities, and media will come together for a one hour breakfast event to learn about girls at-risk in Durham and how Girls Inc. is positioned to provide the opportunities, and experiences each girl needs to navigate the many gender, economic, and social barriers she faces, so she can grow up healthy, educated, and independent.

Thursday June 4, 2020
The Abilities Centre, The Theatre Room
55 Gordon St,
Whitby, ON L1N 0J2

By Invitation Only

Registration: 7:30 a.m. Breakfast: 8:00 am

You have no doubt heard of the growing concern around COVID-19 and the impact it is having on events across the country.

Girls Inc. of Durham have been monitoring the situation and while the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the associated public health risk as low for Canada, we have decided that the best thing to do for the health of attendees is to postpone “The Spirit of Girls Breakfast” Event scheduled for Thursday April 9th, 2020.

Many of you have expressed concerns over how COVID-19 will impact our event and your ability to attend/participate. Many of you may have a corporate ban on travel. Rather than putting you, the attendees, in the position of deciding whether or not to attend the event, we have made the decision to postpone.

While this decision does not come lightly, we believe strongly that this is the right thing to do.

 Postponed but not cancelled!

 Questions? We have answers:

What is the new date?

Thursday June 4th, 2019 is the tentative proposed date but we will reassess if need be as news unfolds.

 What is the new location?

Location remains the same: Abilities Centre 55 Gordon Street, Whitby, Ontario L1N 0J2
