Both of these ladies were outstanding!!!
They spoke about young women and the gender pay gap in employment opportunities. That it starts young as many girls are encouraged to take on caregiver roles like babysitting or elder care which are often paid at or below minimum wage. While young men are often encouraged to take on more labour roles like landscaping and stocking inventory which is paid higher. They also highlighted the lack of value we place in female dominated roles and having employers or public treat them differently based on their gender. This opportunity was a great way for them to participate and demonstrate Girls Inc. role in advocacy, asking the questions and starting the dialogue early in order to impact future change.
