Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program “Food ‘4’ Thought” VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are looking for 2-person teams of volunteers (ideally from within your own ‘bubble’) to deliver food parcels to our ‘Food 4 Thought’ program participants across Durham Region. The time commitment is 2-3 hours every Tuesday, with pickup of parcels at our Ajax office at 12:30 pm. Deliveries are anywhere between Pickering and Bowmanville, but we will divide up routes to make it as short and efficient as possible. Teams will need to use a cell phone to call/text the recipient when they are on their way and when they arrive. Volunteers do not go into the recipients’ homes – they just deliver and allow the recipient to pick up their food parcel outside their door. We are looking for a minimum 3 month commitment for this volunteer position.
The need in this program has drastically increased due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with many young women, and their children and families, in urgent need of support. If you can help, please reach out to Yvette Nechvatal-Drew E-mail: yndrew@durham.girls-inc.org
We are always looking for dedicated volunteers, and there are so many ways to get involved.
Volunteers contribute at all levels of the organization. Opportunities to get involved range from community outreach, fundraising, advocacy, and event planning; to office administration, social media, graphic design, and data entry; as well as financial management, and governance.
Volunteer Information Nights – Information Sessions are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. To Register to Attend: E-mail: ecomire@durham.girls-inc.org
